RMS’ Macquarie Park road works under way

ROADS and Maritime Services workers have started on-site investigations for the $60 million bus priority and road improvements at Macquarie Park.

Motorists will notice workers surveying and drilling at night at Epping Rd, and the Waterloo Rd intersections of Byfield St, Herring Rd, Lane Cove Rd and Khartoum Rd.

This will allow more buses to serve the area once the Epping to Chatswood rail line closes late next year to be converted to the Sydney Metro Northwest from Rouse Hill to Chatswood and ultimately to Bankstown, and to provide for the increase in population of Macquarie Park due to major housing projects there.

RMS officials expect the work will take 65 night shifts to complete.

There will be some work during the day.

The investigative work will allow for two stages of the Macquarie Park Bus Priority and Capacity Improvement project.

The first will upgrade intersections at Herring Rd and Epping Rd, Herring Rd and Waterloo Rd, Waterloo Rd and Lane Cove Rd, and Lane Cove Rd and Epping Rd.

There will also be kerbside bus lanes on both sides of Herring Rd, between Waterloo Rd and Ivanhoe Place.

The second lot of works will begin once the Metro rail service opens. This will provide improvements for general traffic.
