The high school being planned for the Ivanhoe estate at Macquarie Park is likely to be a Catholic one.

A spokeswoman for Sydney Catholic Schools said it had been invited to prepare a feasibility study for a school at the estate.

Planning and demographic studies were under way but it would be months before a decision was made.

The vertical school would have nine floors and accommodate 1000 students.

The state government is planning a new estate with at least 950 social housing units, 128 affordable rental units, aged care and shops

The school is proposed for the northeast side of the estate and would be across the road from the village green.

The high school will not be the only education institution in the estate. There are plans for two, 75-place childcare centres.

The high school is one of a handful planned for the northern district.

The Smalls Rd Public School at Ryde, which will accommodate 1000 students, is due to open in 2020.

This year the State Government announced a kindergarten to Year 12 school in Meadowbank.

Its location is tipped to be the TAFE site but this has not been confirmed.
