It comes almost two years since AMP Capital lodged an application to redevelop the centre in December 2018 which included demolishing the current ice rink with no plans to rebuild an Olympic-size ice rink, triggering widespread protest.

According to the latest plans, a new indoor ice skating rink will stretch across 3905 square metres as well as a new V-Max cinema in a three-storey retail and entertainment podium.

Macquarie Ice Rink skating director Monica MacDonald has said she couldn’t be happier with the new concept designs.

“We’re really excited,” she previously told The Northern District Times.

“It’s a world-class facility, my husband John Dunn the manager of the rink and I travel the world with skaters who compete.

“We have been to some of the best ice rinks in the world and this one is up there with the very best.”
The application will be referred to the Sydney North Planning Panel.

Public submissions are open until November 4.
