More than 250 people have tested positive to COVID-19 in Sydney’s north as the number of confirmed cases across NSW rose to a staggering 1405 cases on Friday.
Sydney’s north has had the highest number of tests with 13,394 tests being taken and of that figure there have been 270 confirmed cases, according to the latest NSW Health data released on Friday.
That breaks down to 28.25 cases every 100,000 residents giving a 2.02 per cent positive rate.
To date, there were at least 33 confirmed cases in Ryde.
There were also two coronavirus clusters in Ryde’s local government area; stemming from transmissions at Dorothy Henderson Lodge starting from February 24.
On Wednesday NSW Health reported 19 were infected in this cluster but have now changed it to 10-20 range on Friday.
A second cluster started at a church service held at Ryde Civic Centre on March 8 where initially four people tested positive including the evangelist.
15 infections were reported from this cluster on Wednesday but was changed to 10-20 by NSW Health on Friday.
Nearby Hunters Hill recorded 7 confirmed COVID-19 cases while Canada Bay which includes Drummoyne, Concord and Rhodes had 6, as of the latest NSW Health results.

Currently, there are 134 COVID-19 cases being treated across NSW with 53 cases in hospital wards and 62 cases being cared for with hospital treatment in the home.
There were also 19 cases in Intensive Care Units and of that figure, nine required ventilators.
“What these figures reveal is that testing for COVID-19 is occurring at a significant rate across the state,” NSW Health said in a statement.
“And we urge everyone to follow NSW Health advice about social distancing, personal hygiene and staying at home wherever possible.”
