A man faces a string of dangerous driving charges after a woman was killed in a horror multiple-vehicle crash in Sydney’s northwest.

A man faces multiple dangerous driving charges after a woman was killed in a horror multiple-vehicle crash at Eastwood last July.

Joshua Fisher fronted Burwood Court for his first court appearance since he was arrested following the death of 61-year-old woman of Swee Be-An Chew, and after the multiple-vehicle crash at the intersection of Blaxland Rd and First Ave on July 12 about 1.30pm.

Ryde police arrived to find a Mitsubishi SUV, Holden Commodore, Kia SUV, Toyota sedan, Audi hatchback and a van had crashed.

Paramedics treated the passenger of the Holden but she died at the scene.

The 67-year-old driver of that car was treated and taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition. A 63-year-old woman, who was the other passenger of the Holden, was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital also in a critical condition.

Fisher – who drove the Mitsubishi – was treated for a head injury and taken to hospital in a stable condition.

The other drivers aged between 23 and 49 were uninjured and taken to several hospitals for mandatory testing.

The Mitsubishi and Holden were seized to undergo forensic examination. The Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit examined the crime scene.

Fisher, a 32-year-old from Bateau Bay, was arrested on May 10. He was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death – drive manner dangerous, two counts of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – drive manger dangerous, negligent driving occasioning death – first offence and two counts of negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm – first offence).

He appeared briefly at Burwood Court on Monday when the matter was adjourned to August 28.
