A nail parlour at a popular shopping centre in Sydney’s northwest has been shut down and cleaned after a COVID-19 case visited the site.

Carlingford Court said a confirmed COVID-19 case had visited Vanity Nails in the shopping centre on Saturday July 18 between 9-10.30am.

The shopping centre was “thoroughly cleaned and sanitised” on Monday night (July 20), according a Carlingford Court statement.

“We have also increased our cleaning roster since learning of the case, with additional focus on specific areas including handrails, toilets, door handles, sinks, change tables and parents’ rooms, as well as communal furniture throughout the centre,” Centre Manager Kelli Shoesmith said.

“This will continue for the foreseeable future.

“We have received no advice which indicates there was any risk to other customers or retail team members who visited Carlingford Court.”

The shopping centre’s management team are working with the state’s health authorities to monitor the situation.

“The advice from authorities is for anyone showing signs of an infectious disease, including fever, sweats or chills to see a doctor immediately.”

A Carlingford Court spokesman confirmed Vanity Nails will remain closed today (July 21).

A North Sydney Local Health District spokesman said NSW Health does not comment on suspected COVID-19 cases, only confirmed cases that pose an ongoing public health risk.

“If a confirmed case of COVID-19 attends a venue when they may be infectious, NSW Health carries out a risk assessment on that venue to determine whether other people may have been exposed and whether there is a public health risk.

“NSW Health notifies the venue if it is deemed there is a public health risk and advises them of the actions they need to take, for example, closure for deep cleaning.”
