ABOUT 150 Willoughby Roos players will try to capture a title this season for one of the oldest rugby league clubs on the north shore.

The Roos are celebrating their centenary this year and junior players aged six to 13 and a senior A2 team will take to the field in the North Sydney Junior Rugby League competition.

Former Roos greats include North Sydney Bears stalwart Greg Florimo and St George Dragons legend Norm Provan.

Willoughby secretary Steven Dadich said the club continued to go from strength to strength.

"Our club is growing, which is good in an area which is predominantly rugby union and soccer," Dadich said.

"We are a proud club with 100 years of history and we are celebrating our centenary this year.

"It's a special year for the Roos and for rugby league," he said.
