Staff at a primary school on Sydney’s north shore have been left counting the cost after the campus was targeted by thieves and vandalised in an overnight robbery.
An i-pad was among the items stolen from Willoughby Public School after offenders forced their way in through a ground floor window just after 9pm on Friday.
North Shore Police said the unknown miscreants rummaged through classrooms and made away with a laptop and other school property.
In their wake, offenders left behind a trail of empty alcohol bottles, cigarette butts as well as “lewd pictures” including genitalia sprayed on school whiteboards.
The incident was reported by a staff member who turned up to the 1047-student campus on Saturday morning.
P&C president Jenni Brown confirmed the i-pad was school property but it was unclear what other items had been taken during the incident.
Police said camera footage from inside the school was being reviewed as part of the investigation with officers also canvassing surrounding streets to speak with possible witnesses.
