WARRINGAH MP Tony Abbott took the election race to another level at the weekend.
The former PM hit the streets of Mosman for the annual Mini-Mos fundraising event.
And he didn’t show any sign of tiredness after weeks on the election trail as he finished the 10km run in 55 minutes and two seconds.
“My training regimen is trying to avoid being on my feet as much as possible,” he joked. “I’m very pleased I almost broke 55.”
Mr Abbott was just over 20 minutes behind the men’s 10k winner Harry Summers, who marked his third consecutive win of the race with a time of 31:07.
“I forgot how tough the course was,” he said.
“Overall I’m pretty happy, as it’s my fastest time.”
The women’s 10km was taken out by Reegan Ellis, who crossed the finish line at 38:05. This followed her win at the recent 21km Soft Sand Classic at Manly.
The 5km winners were Dominic Adamo from Mosman and Charlotte Middleton from Artarmon.
The rain stayed away until the youngest runners on the day took on the 2km race.
The community fun run and fair, which marked its 34th year, raises funds for Mosman Public School and two partnership charities.
Over $30,000 was raised for charities Raise Foundation and SeeBeyondBorders.
