Help Matt Preston find the best brunch spot in your region – Vote now

After putting out a call for nominations for the north shore and Mosman’s best place for brunch and counting the online poll votes, the winner for 2021 can now be revealed.

Readers across the region had from March 18 to 25 to vote for their favourite brunch location, resulting in Lindfield’s wildly popular Goodfields Eatery coming up trumps.

The cafe was established by father and son duo George and Anthony Karnasiotis in 2018, who previously owned The Butcher’s Block in Wahroonga and Mr Spofforth in Mosman.

In just three short years the venue has built a reputation as the suburb’s go-to destination for brunch, lunch and breakfast with queues of hungry residents often seen lining up on Lindfield Ave as they wait for a table.

The cafe serves up an array of popular breakfast staples including French toast, breakfast burgers and bircher, however it’s the more inventive items that truly set the business apart in the cafe crowd.

On the menu you’ll find the signature lobster benedict, passionfruit hot cakes, spanner crab omelettes, slow roasted lamb pitas and a range of selections featuring truffles during the winter season.

Anthony said the cafe changes the menu every three months to keep the choices exciting for its dedicated crowd of regulars.

“When we opened it more than just about opening another cafe – we wanted to bring something new and special to Lindfield and we really asked ourselves what can we do that hits the breakfast market that is a new experience?” he said

“We try to make it as unique as possible so we’re not doing the same thing as everyone else and I think people really respond to that.”

The cafe sources the majority of its produce locally within NSW and in the coming year has plans to expand its outdoor seating area.

While 2020 had been a tough year for the food and hospitality sector, Anthony said the cafe’s loyal customers and the ability to provide takeaway meals had seen the business stay afloat.

“It’s been a challenging year but we’re grateful for the foot traffic and our customers,” he said.

“To see people come back time and time again and the feedback we get – that’s the most rewarding part of what we do.”.

Anthony thanked readers who voted for the business in the poll.
