AERIAL skier Danielle Scott celebrated her 23rd birthday in fine style after clinching her first women's world cup medal.
Scott, 23, of Gordon, survived a gruelling new elimination format to capture the bronze at last month's event in Norway.
The former Pymble Ladies' College student said it was a memorable moment to stand on the podium for the first time.
"It felt so rewarding to be up on the podium," she said. "I was so proud of myself and my country and seeing the Australian flag being hoisted at the awards ceremony.
"The world championships this year has been my biggest event so far and the closest thing to Olympic winter games which was a huge experience and really exciting."
After qualifying fourth into the top 12 in the opening elimination round, Scott finished fifth in the top eight before qualifying second into the super final of four.
"It was a really long day making it through each round so the finals kind of felt like survivor,'' she said.
"You cannot repeat a jump, so I used my tactics well against how other competitors were going and decided on my jump accordingly this was stressful."
With the end of the competitive winter season, Scott has started summer training where she will focus on improving her degree of difficulty and landings for next season.
