BROTHERS Angus and Hugh Sinclair are leading Northern Suburbs this season as joint vice captains.
Brothers Angus and Hugh Sinclair are leading Northern Suburbs this season as joint vice captains.
Hugh, 23, convinced his older brother to join the squad and it has the seal of approval from their biggest fans.
“It makes it a lot easier for mum and dad to come watch us,” Hugh said.
Angus, 25, previously played for Eastern Suburbs and also competed professionally with the Cornish Pirates in the UK.
He started playing rugby again at the start of this year as he was out for 18 months with chronic fatigue following a bout of glandular fever.
The brothers played once against each other in the past during a clash between Easts and Norths but have never played on the same team together before.
However, growing up in Lindfield they played all the time at home and they are keenly aware of each other’s skills.
“It’s pretty settling because we know what each other can do,” Hugh said.
“We always played every sport in the backyard together.”
Their presence also has a strengthening effect on the side as they are playing in different sections of the squad.
Hugh explained that his brother controls the back and he is helping the captain Will Miller with the forwards.
“I think it works,” he said.
Hugh has been with Northern Suburbs since 2011 and its his sixth season with the club. The brothers played rugby while studying at Shore.
At the weekend Northern Suburbs took its first loss of the season against Eastern Suburbs.
The side lost 28-13 at Woollahra Oval.
They had a strong start to their season campaign notching up wins against Warringah and West Harbour.
