A MAN found riding a bike without a proper helmet has led to the discovery of stolen bikes, credit cards and drugs at a unit in Cammeray, including a bicycle worth upwards of $8,000.
Last month Harbourside bicycle police were patrolling Milsons Point when they came across a man riding “extremely rare” $8000 bicycle without an approved helmet.
North Sydney police Sen Constable Tim Young said the bike police stopped the man at 7.30am.
“He was spoken to and questioned in relation to this extremely rare and expensive bicycle,” Constable Young said.
“Police were suspicious and conducted checks, but couldn’t confirm it was stolen.”

The man was issued with an infringement notice and allowed to leave, but further checks revealed the bike was allegedly stolen.
“Police recovered the stolen bicycle and arrested the man in relation to the offence,” Constable Young said.
Among the bikes seized from the storage unit were high-name brands including Giant, EMC, Focus and Trek. There were also boxes of spare parts, credit cards, stolen mail and drugs.
Some of the victims of the bike thief have been contacted, but not all.
North Sydney Police are hoping to reunite bike owners with their missing equipment.
