A 75-year-old Peak View man has been charged with allegedly raping a woman more than 20 years ago at Thornleigh, in Sydney’s North Shore.

Paul Johnson was charged with sexual intercourse without consent and two counts of assault with act of indecency and faced Hornsby Local Court on June 7. No pleas have yet been entered.

It’s alleged Johnson raped a woman in March 1995 at Thornleigh.

“Johnson had sex with a woman without her consent and knowing she was not consenting,” court documents allege.

Police allege, on two separate occasions, Johnson “pushed a woman onto his bed, held her down” and rubbed himself on her while fully clothed.

The alleged offences date between June 1995 and December 1999 against the same alleged victim.

Johnson was arrested on May 5 and granted bail. Peak View is about 300km south of Sydney in the Snowy Monaro region. The matter was adjourned to be mentioned at Downing Centre Local Court on July 19.
