A SPRAWLING nine-bedroom mansion in Killara has become he most expensive property on the upper north shore after exchanging hands for a rumoured $12 million.
It was snapped up by a buyer from China
The Federation house at 26 Wattle St is known as “Ballernoo” and spans across more than 4000sq m on two titles.
The previous highest-selling residential property was 27-29 Chilton Pde, Warrawee, which set a record when it sold in 2010 for $11.5 million, according to CoreLogic RP Data.
The sale was jointly negotiated and sold by Glenn Curran from Curran Property and Robert Klaric from The Property Expert.
Ballernoo was bought by keen poker player and boss of Demlakian Consulting, Ken Demlakian and his wife Josie, in 1999 for $3.4 million.
In 2002, the property was restored to feature an undercover dance floor, gym, home theatre, guest cottage, championship-sized tennis court, golf driving range and gardens inspired by Versailles.
It was first listed in late 2014 and attracted interest local buyers and those from Asia and the Middle East during its time on the market.
The house has plenty of room for a large family with nine bedrooms, seven bathrooms and more than 1000sq m of internal space.
