An investigation has been launched after a family home was ravaged by fire on Sydney’s north shore.
Emergency services were called just after 2.50am on Monday after reports of smoke billowing from the house at Wyomee Ave in West Pymble.
NSW Fire and Rescue said seven crews arrived to find the brick home “engulfed by flames” as the fire tore through upper sections of the building.
Nobody was at home at the time of the incident.
A NSW Fire and Rescue spokesman said it took crews almost an hour to extinguish the blaze, however the upper level of the house could not be saved.
Other damage included partial collapse of the 60-year-old building’s roof along with smoke and water damage to the lower level of the home.
Ku-ring-gai Police said detectives have launched an investigation into the cause and origin of the blaze. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
The fire was contained at the property and no injuries were reported.
