Fit, fierce and fighting for selection to get physical on NSW Legends footy team

THEY'RE fit, fierce and fighting for selection on the NSW Legends Football League team.

THEY'RE fit, fierce and fighting for selection on the NSW Legends Football League team.

Charmaine Pavelka, of Mosman, and Jade Steedman, of Neutral Bay, are hoping other sporty women looking for a physical challenge will try out for the league this weekend.

"It's a collision sport involving seven-on-seven tackles it tests your speed, strength, agility and focus," Ms Pavelka, who runs a Mosman bootcamp business, said.

"It's also tonnes of fun, you build great camaraderie and push yourself to your physical limits."

Formerly the Lingerie Football League, the all-girls American gridiron game was formed in 2009 as an entertainment sport.

The league has been rebranded to focus on the skill and athleticism of players instead of skimpy outfits.

"I used to be a professional volleyball player so the uniform doesn't faze me," Ms Pavelka said.

The inaugural Australian LFL season starts in December.
