TWO builders are being treated for burns to the face following a gas explosion at a house, emergency crews say.
Firefighters and paramedics were called to Cobbittee St in Mosman at lunchtime today after a gas line went on fire inside the property.
The men, aged 27 and 39, are in a stable condition at Royal North Shore Hospital.
Police said the builders were doing house renovations and hit the gas line while drilling into the building.
“They seemed to escape without major injury,” Detective Inspector Mike Birley said.
Ambulance sent five vehicles to the scene to treat the two men.
Firefighters from Mosman and Neutral Bay stations rushed to the street alongside a crew from the gas company.

“It looks like there was work going on and the gas line caught fire inside the house,” a Fire and Rescue NSW spokeswoman said.
“Crews set up fire protection and waited for the gas company to turn the gas off.
“There was no major damage to the house.”
