Cremorne couple sets out to prove that coffee feels just as good on the outside as the inside

A WOMAN’S search for natural skin care products while she was pregnant has seen the birth of a new range of Australian-made coffee body scrubs.
Cremorne mother of two Maggie Zeng asked her husband Peter Xiao about developing a product which was genuinely natural but still addressed common skin problems. Mr Xiao previously worked as an international buyer for a Chinese pharmaceutical and cosmetic distributor, sourcing Australian-made medicine or skincare products.
The couple spent six months on preparation and research and launched Sweetheart Body.
“When I fell pregnant with our second child, I became very aware of what I was using on my skin and I noticed how few natural products were actually available,” Ms Zeng said.
She said Sweetheart Body exfoliants were 100 per cent natural and used 80 per cent certified organic ingredients. “Coffee grounds were carefully chosen with finer particles which are an appropriate size for skin and they are also 100 per cent vegan,” Ms Zeng said.
The couple sells three types of exfoliants online: coconut, manuka honey and grape seed. “All of our scrubs are quite effective for treating acne, cellulite, stretch marks, eczema and scars,” Ms Zeng said.
