FOLLOWING the storm of controversy over his huge mural of Kanye West kissing himself, artist Scott Marsh has turned his sights on a North Sydney car park.
But Marsh has decided to steer away from controversy in the car park and so far he’s submitted much more sedate artwork including a painting of a bunch of flowers.
Marsh is among ten urban or street artists contributing work to the Urban Art Park exhibition this weekend.
The event was held for the first time last year, with more than $12,000 worth of art sold.
However, this is the first year Marsh has taken part.
He recently attracted attention for his painting of Kanye West, hip hop artist and husband of Kim Kardarshian, that stirred up international controversy.
“Scott isn’t painting Kanye West but his work at the carpark will still be interesting,’’ said organiser Morgan Workman.
The idea of the exhibition was to bring art to unused spaces and also provide an offbeat gallery space for artists to sell their work.
“Car parks are often deserted on the weekend and we will close off a whole level of the carpark for the exhibition,’’ he said.
Artists are contributing mainly works on canvas for the exhibition and the artists include Archibald finalist Luke Cornish (ELK), Tim Phibs, Karen Farmer and Andrew Jumbo.
