A man in his 30s has died after being struck by a car near Maitland, in what police believe was a hit-and-run incident.

A man in his 30s has died after being struck by a car in alleged hit and run incident in Maitland

Emergency services were called to the New England Highway, Harpers Hill at 9.30pm on October 30, where they found a man that had been hit by a vehicle that failed to stop.

Despite efforts from NSW Ambulance paramedics to provide treatment, the man was pronounced dead on site.

His identity has not yet been confirmed.

Port Stephens-Hunter Valley Police District officers established a crime scene, and investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit are now examining the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Authorities are urging anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward as they work to uncover the details of this event.
