A young motorcyclist on his way back home to Newcastle from Coffs Harbour has been found safe and well after his family feared he went missing in floodwaters.

Cole Perry, 31, left Coffs Harbour on Thursday on a motorbike heading home towards Newcastle and was last seen at the Nambucca Service Station south of Coffs Harbour, his family said on Friday morning.

Given the ferocity in which the Mid-North Coast region has been hit by the record-breaking flood event, his aunt Rose Andrews feared he may have become a victim in the disaster as he had not returned back home.

“He is very loved and his mum and family are worried sick,” Ms Andrews said.

The family reported him missing to police on Friday morning before he was later located on Friday at an evacuation centre near Taree.

Mr Perry’s mother said she was “overjoyed” to have found her son safe and well.

“We are very relieved and thankfull to the community for their help,” she said.
