The Sculptures by the Sea winners are set to be gifted to North Sydney Council for the first time this year.
For the past three years, Mosman has been the recipient of the winning sculptures, which are exhibited at Georges Heights.
But the team behind the hugely-popular outdoor art exhibition — which is displayed on the Bondi to Tamarama coastal walk — have approached North Sydney.
“It’s our turn now. I’m sure Mosman will be happy for us,” Mayor Jilly Gibson said.
The council is being offered the first, second and third place sculptures from this year’s selection, which will be on display from October 20.
It does not know yet where it will place them but Bradfield Park and the Coal Loader Centre are potential locations.
The park is a popular tourist attraction and the eco-friendly centre is currently undergoing major renovations.
“We are privileged to be presented with an opportunity to be gifted some world-class sculptures,” Cr Gibson said.
“It’s the most exciting offer we’ve had in many years. It sits well with all our other initiatives to promote the arts in North Sydney.”
Three previous winners were gifted to the Sydney Harbour Federation Trust and are on permanent public display at Georges Heights in Mosman.
Last November the four-tonne artwork Divided Planet by German sculptor Jorg Plickat was installed in the parkland.
The 2014 winner Ring by Peter Lundberg and the 2013 winner Fallout by Australian artist Stephen King are also on display.
