WITH the spring selling season in full swing, some of Mosman’s more notable residents have decided to make a move.
Restaurateur and co-owner of Public Dining Room at Balmoral Beach Mark McLoughlin has listed his tightly held family home through Belle Property Mosman’s Tim Foote and Bo Zhang with $5.5 million price hopes.
The long-time Mosmanite has shared his five-bedroom Rawson St property — aptly positioned within walking distance of his eatery — with his wife Suzie, three young children and their Cavalier King Charles spaniel named Princess for the last 12 years.
Unsurprisingly given their culinary background, the couple undertook extensive renovations to the kitchen area when they first moved in, and earlier this year renovated the second level including the ensuite bathroom plus the addition of a balcony from the main bedroom.
““We wanted to capitalise on the amazing view looking out to the Heads,” Ms McLoughlin said.
“We also transformed a downstairs storage space into a fabulous cellar.
“We love this house and it’s going to be very hard to leave after 12 wonderful years, but it was now or never; an opportunity came up to purchase a renovator’s dream and Mark loves a project.”
Across the other side of the suburb, Channel 7 Sunrise sports presenter Mark Beretta has listed his Lennox St property with plans to upsize closer to the beach.
Richardson & Wrench Mosman/Neutral Bay’s Andrew Blaxland has the Federation heritage five-bedder, which was initially built for the then Mosman Mayor, priced at $4.85 million to $5.35 million.
Despite the listing only going live on realestate.com.au late last week; Mr Blaxland took some 20 groups through the beautifully restored home on its first open on Saturday.
Buyers have also been flocking to the palatial estate of Peter Hofbauer, the former head of infrastructure at investment company Babcock & Brown, just around the corner.
Set across a sprawling 2,244sq m parcel, the six-bedroom Federation Queen Anne-style property on Bradleys Head Rd comes with a championship tennis court, pool, self-contained accommodation and Harbour Bridge views.
McGrath Mosman’s Michael Coombs, who has the $15.5 million to $16.5 million listing with Michael Rava, said last week that he had already had over 40 inquiries within three days and “a dozen highly qualified buyers expressing interest in the property before the first open”.
