Police have charged an 18-year-old with three offences including using a prohibited weapon without a permit and one count of common assault after an incident at the Hotel Mosman on Saturday night.

Police allege the 18-year-old attended the venue with a friend where he produced a can of oleoresin capsicum spray from his pocket.

While in the TAB section of the premises, the 18-year-old allegedly discharged the capsicum spray twice into the air.

The venue was able to track down the name of the 18-year-old from entry registration data.

The teen later self-reported to police and was arrested and charged.

He has been granted conditional bail and is due to appear in Manly Local Court later this month.

A NSW Police spokesman said the teenager’s phone has been seized by officers.

The capsicum spray has also been seized and is currently undergoing forensic testing to determine its origins.
