MOSMAN Council is yet to hear officially if the NSW Government plans to use a reserve at The Spit as a construction site for its major road tunnel projects.
Speculation emerged last week that The Spit, on the Mosman side, might become one of several green spaces on the lower north shore to support the building of the Beaches Link and Western Harbour tunnel projects.
Mayor Carolyn Corrigan said the council was awaiting the detailed design and final project strategy and had not been approached by the Government in relation to the proposal.
“The council will carefully review any plan that would adversely impact on environmental values and amenity,” she said.
Mosman Council acknowledged in February 2017 that it supported “a road tunnel-based solution” over the “finetuning” of the public transport system.
A North Sydney community group will host a meeting about the environmental impact of the tunnels on Thursday, March 22, at 6.30pm, at 200 Miller St.
