Loreto Kirribilli unveils $100m vision for next 50 years

A PRIVATE girls school on Sydney’s north shore has announced an ambitious 50-year plan to redevelop its grounds — and it won’t be asking for a cent of government funding.

LORETO Kirribilli has announced a $100 million vision for the future.

The school has created a masterplan that aims to see the transformation of the campus over the next 50 years.

No federal government education funding will be spent on the development and the girls school will be raising money in the community.

Principal Anna Dickinson said 2018 would mark the 110th anniversary of the school on the site at Kirribilli, and it was timely to ask how to project the vision and values of its founders into the next century.

The plan aims to see the gradual redevelopment or replacement of buildings.

Phase one, a new learning hub, is estimated to cost $30 million and has been developed to concept stage.

The school is keen to work with neighbours and will not exceed the height of the current buildings.

It wants to stick to design that preserves the openness of the current site, while also sharing views.

To achieve this it plans to use the site in an innovative way.

“We have opted to build down into the sandstone so that from the streetscape all new buildings are in line with or under the height of existing buildings,” Mrs Dickinson said.

“We have a longstanding and respectful relationship with our neighbours and community, and we look forward to consulting and incorporating feedback in our first phase.”

The school hopes to start construction in the next few years.
