Felicity Wilson MP returns to work weeks after baby arrives
North Shore MP Felicity Wilson is back at full time work for the state election just weeks after welcoming baby Eleanor into the world.
North Shore MP Felicity Wilson is back at full time work just weeks after giving birth to a baby girl.
Ms Wilson is on the campaign trail ahead of the state election and little Eleanor and her husband Sam Ison are often by her side.
“Sam and I have always been a great team and I couldn’t have achieved anything without his support,” Ms Wilson said.
“He still joins me occasionally for campaigning activities and brings Eleanor along.
“I am lucky to have my two sisters and my mum helping me to care for her during the week so I can be out and about — but I often turn up to events and people are disappointed that they don’t get to meet her.”
Eleanor arrived on December 28 by caesarean section at the Mater Hospital in North Sydney.
Since her arrival Ms Wilson has worked in the background on key issues and has been keeping on top of work coming through the office.
She has been at meetings to ensure issues were being addressed and also dealt with a legal challenge from a political rival.
Tim James unsuccessfully took a case to the Supreme Court after Ms Wilson won an internal Liberal party vote to become the candidate for North Shore in the election.
Her first public engagement was on Australia Day at the Mosman citizenship ceremony and both Eleanor and Sam came along.
“Sam and I are loving getting to know her, as she becomes more and more engaged with us and her surroundings every week,” she said.
“We are learning to juggle the time challenges and both our work commitments, which means we work out the handover when I have early morning commitments or late night events and Sam has his own work commitments, but it’s the same juggle every young family has.
“One day when Eleanor is old enough to look back on photos and cards from her earliest days, I know she will feel so loved to have received so much warm community support welcoming her to the world. And hopefully she doesn’t get too spoiled by all the lovely gifts.”
On Thursday Ms Wilson visited Mosman High School to announce a major upgrade. Demountables will be removed and in their place airconditioned classrooms will be built.
