WORKING hard to achieve dreams is a thread that binds this family which has earned success from Mosman to Mexico.

Frank Pearce, who turns 80 next month, and son Jonathon De Brennan-Pearce, 28, travelled to Cozumel, Mexico for the International Triathlon Union World Age Group Championships in September.

Mr De Brennan-Pearce cheered on his father, who was one of the oldest Australians on the team. Mr Pearce’s identical twin brother, Keith Pearce of Forster, also competed. The Mosman twin won bronze.

Meanwhile, Mr De Brennan-Pearce founded his own real estate agency in Mosman about four months ago and has already sold six properties.

He has worked in real estate for almost 10 years, having started as a 19-year-old whose persistence earned him his first job with Century 21.

Mr De Brennan-Pearce specialises in the suburb he grew up in but said he had set “quite substantial street records” in his three sales outside Mosman.

“I love selling the Mosman lifestyle and the area,” he said.

Mr De Brennan-Pearce said his Mexico trip had reignited his passion to succeed in life.

“I was very proud and inspired when I went to Mexico with dad,” he said.

“I saw him running and he looked so determined, so strong and fit coming out of the water.

“It’s remarkable that dad was competing at his age; it really has fuelled me to do him proud with my life.”

But Mr Pearce was modest about his achievements in Mexico, which matched his world championships results four years ago in Auckland.

“In the aquathlon I came third and in the sprint distance I came sixth,” he said. “I had opportunities to draft on the bike but I did not; it was a bad mistake!”

Mr Pearce has lived in Mosman for about 30 years. His mother died when he was a baby in England. He lived in Rhodesia, South Africa and New Zealand before migrating to Australia.
