ANGER is growing in Cremorne village over planned changes to make way for the B-Line bus route.
Two existing bus stops will be relocated and Cabramatta Rd will be half-closed to stop cars turning left into Military Rd. Residents are concerned elderly people will find it hard to walk back to the shops from the new bus stops.
“If you move the two bus stops, you dismantle our mobility,” said retiree Jenny Howell.
The two bus stops will be moved about 100m towards Neutral Bay.
Residents are also concerned extra traffic will be pushed into feeder roads.
“The B-Line only considers the impact on Military Rd,” another resident said. “What then happens on the feeder roads?
“The proposed closure of Cabramatta Rd is going to triple the traffic on Spofforth (St).
“Holt Ave is a rat run. We are concerned that it will become even more of a rat run.”
Military Rd itself will also face changes when a tidal flow system for the morning peak starts at Cremorne and finishes at Neutral Bay.
About 78,000 vehicles travel along Military Rd each day and it is heavily congested at peak hours.
“The road improvements proposed as part of the B-Line project are designed to reduce traffic congestion and make bus journey times faster and more reliable,” a Transport for NSW spokesman said.
“No decisions on the proposed work will be made until we assess all of the submissions received during the public display.”
