Specialist teams will be urgently deployed at a locked down aged care home in Sydney’s west after a cleaner tested positive to Covid.
Minchinbury Manor released a statement last night confirming a contract cleaner at the Rooty Hill facility tested positive to the virus.
Five close contacts have also been isolated and the aged care home was locked down as a “precautionary measure.”
“We are in close communications with the Department of Health, which are deploying specialist teams to work with our staff to deal with the issue,” the aged care home said in a statement.
“We have isolated all residents and staff throughout the facility and our outbreak management plan has been implemented.”
The spokesman said 90 per cent of the 134 residents have been vaccinated and no resident has contracted Covid-19 to date.
About 10 per cent of staff have not been vaccinated.
About 10am on Friday, a spokesman said 187 covid tests for staff and residents were conducted yesterday and they have all come back negative.
“The department has praised the facility for its quick action in locking down, isolating the positive case and her close contacts and taking all other measures to limit the possibility of the virus spreading,” the spokesman said.
He said a mobile vaccination unit has also been requested to ensure all residents and staff are vaccinated.
The aged care home has been extensively cleaned and will enforce continued Covid testing.
NSW recorded 65 new cases of Covid with 28 infectious in the community in yesterday’s Covid update.
