Wauchope man Shannon Andrew Duck caught with meth ahead of sentencing for reckless wounding

A Mid-North Coast man who committed a violent home invasion has been busted with drugs ahead of his sentencing. Here’s what happened.

A Wauchope man awaiting sentence in the District Court over a violent home invasion has been picked up with meth in his possession.

Shannon Andrew Duck appeared in Port Macquarie Local Court on Wednesday where he pleaded guilty to possessing less than a gram of methamphetamines.

Magistrate Georgina Darcy told the court Duck was already on bail for “serious matters”.

In the higher court, Duck has pleaded guilty to one count each of reckless wounding, failing to appear in accordance with bail and aggravated entering of a dwelling with intent while occupants were home.

Those charges relate to an incident in Wauchope on July 11, 2021, when Duck entered a home and wounded a person.

On Wednesday, Ms Darcy said money Duck used for drugs could have been better spent on his family. The 46-year-old was supported in court by his partner.

Duck was arrested on July 8 for breaching bail and searched at Wauchope Police Station, where police found the meth.

Duck was convicted and fined $200 for possessing a prohibited drug.

His District Court matters have been adjourned to October 16.
