A family is lucky to be alive after their Port Macquarie home went up in flames last night.
The house fire began in the garage of the Elparra Close property, before spreading to the two-storey home.
Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews from Port Macquarie, Wauchope, Laurieton, Taree and Kempsey were called to the scene just before 9.30pm, with ten fire trucks responding.
The occupants were helped out of the home, with three females - aged 13, 14 and 47 - being taken to Port Macquarie Base Hospital in a stable condition by NSW Ambulance crews.
They were treated for smoke inhalation, while paramedics returned to the scene to assist FRNSW.
The home was well alight by the time emergency crews arrived, and the blaze was contained before it could spread to neighbouring homes.
Firefighters also prevented the flames from reaching two 45kg LPG cylinders on the property.
The home has been completely destroyed, with some areas collapsed, making it difficult for firefighters to extinguish the blaze entirely due to smaller pockets of flames in structurally-unsafe areas.
While the fire was contained by 1am, FRNSW remained on-scene overnight and well in to this morning, with local crews rotating shifts to completely put out the blaze.
The three women arrived at hospital just before 11pm, and were discharged after midnight.
