Tyrone Drysdale: Port Macquarie man in custody accused of having sex with 14-year-old

Port Macquarie teenager Tyrone Drysdale is facing allegations of assault, stalking and sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl. Mr Drysdale, 18, is in custody. His matter was adjourned with him due to reappear later in October.

A Port Macquarie man is facing three charges which police allege he committed against a 14-year-old girl last month.

Tyrone Drysdale, 18, was not present at Port Macquarie Local Court on Wednesday, where a solicitor appeared on his behalf. The matter was briefly heard, before being adjourned to a later date in October.

Police from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation last month into reports a 14-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted by a man at Port Macquarie.

Following extensive inquiries, detectives arrested Mr Drysdale at a service station in Port Macquarie about 11am on Wednesday 23 September 2020.

He was taken to Port Macquarie police station and charged with sexual intercourse with a child under 16 years, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and intimidation.

Police will allege in court that he met the child on September 13 this year, in the Port Macquarie area, before sexually assaulting her.

They also allege he stalked the girl and intended to cause fear of physical harm or mental harm to her.

He was also charged with sexual assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Drysdale appeared at Port Macquarie Local Court on Wednesday 23 September 2020, where he was bail refused bail to reappear at the same court today. He was not present in court, nor was bail applied for.

The matter was adjourned to 22 October, where he will be required to appear via audio visual link.

The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is comprised of detectives who are trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.
