A 50-year-old woman will face court charged with assaulting police after she allegedly punched an officer searching a Taree home in response to an alleged spate of break and enters.
Her two teenage sons were also arrested following an investigation by the Manning-Great Lakes command into the crime wave plaguing Taree.
Police launched an investigation after multiple reports of items being stolen during break and enters in the Mid North Coast town in the past three months.
After various inquiries, centred on clothing depicted in CCTV footage near alleged break-ins, police swooped on a home in Taree about 7am last Wednesday.
Officers executed a search warrant, and will allege in court they found a number of items believed to be stolen including tools and tool kits in the home, and as a result arrested the teens.
It will be alleged in court that during the search, the teenagers’ mother punched an officer in the stomach.
She was charged with assaulting police and will appear at Taree Local Court on June 15.
The two teenagers were each charged with four offences relating to alleged break and enters, and one was served an additional charge for breaching his bail.
Both appeared in Parramatta Children’s Court last Thursday where they were refused bail and will appear before Taree Children’s Court on June 9.
Officers will allege that, while they were at the home, a 29-year-old man who was also present breached an apprehended domestic violence put in place to protect his ex-partner, the boys’ mother.
He was charged for the breach and refused bail to appear at Taree Local Court this Wednesday.
Police are continuing investigations and are confident of further arrests.
