Shane Patrikis in Taree court for domestic violence, lighter fluid charges

A Mid-North Coast man has been charged with several domestic violence related offences including allegedly dousing a woman with lighter fluid. What we know about the case.

A Taree man has been charged with a number of domestic violence related offences including allegedly dousing a woman with fuel.

Shane Patrikis is alleged to have thrown lighter fluid onto a woman just after 11.30pm on June 18 at Taree with the intention of burning her and causing grievous bodily harm.

The 27-year-old has an ‘extensive criminal history’, according to documents tendered to court.

Patrikis is also facing two charges of common assault in relation to the same alleged victim on two separate occasions - on the evenings of June 18 and 19.

He is also charged with stalking and intimidating the same alleged victim on the evening of June 18.

He has not entered pleas and the matter has been adjourned to August 28.
