Police find body at Ellenborough Falls, Elands during search for missing man Andrew Lickley on Mid-North Coast

The search for a missing Port Macquarie man has come to a dire end with the discovery of a body at a Mid-North Coast waterfall. Here’s the latest from authorities.

Police have now confirmed a body has been found at a popular Mid-North Coast waterfall during the search for a Port Macquarie man who went missing three days ago.

Andrew Lickley, 54, a well-known stonemason and local business operator, was last seen at a Kalinda Dr, Port Macquarie home about 5.15am on Tuesday.

Mr Lickley moved to the region with his wife in 2003 and he has five sons.

He has a reputation as a skilled landscaper and monumental mason with clients hailing from towns across the region, including Coffs Harbour, Forster, Kempsey, Taree and Wauchope.

Mr Lickley has also taught TAFE courses in horticulture and structural landscaping.

Police were notified and began investigating Mr Lickley’s disappearance when he did not return from work.

Manning/Great Lakes Police District officers searched Ellenborough Falls at Elands on Tuesday morning, assisted by specialist state police resources, the State Emergency Service, VRA, Rural Fire Service and NSW Ambulance.

The search at the falls about 85 kilometres southwest of Port Macquarie uncovered Mr Lickley’s car and phone.

Police confirmed in a statement about 9.15pm that “the body of a man was found in the water at Ellenborough Falls, about 10.30am”.

“While the body is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of the missing 54-year-old man,” police state.

“A crime scene has been established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident has commenced.”

A report will be prepared for the the Coroner.

The waterfall about an hour’s drive northest of Taree is reputed as the longest single drop waterfall in the southern hemisphere at 200 metres.

The public was advised on Wednesday the falls and a kiosk, walks and a parking lot in the area were closed..

Police advised the area was shut for a special operation and more details emerged.
