A multimillion-dollar vision to create a major tourism and residential community on the NSW Mid-North Coast has been revealed, with developers releasing plans for a luxury estate dubbed Saltwater Shores.
If approved by Mid-North Coast Council, the plans could see the expansion of a holiday-maker’s haven. The luxury resort would be just a stone’s throw away from other resorts and closed communities including Seashells Beachfront Resort, Serenity Diamond Beach, Halliday’s Point Sports Club, as well as hundreds of nearby homes.
The $21 million development application, lodged to Mid-North Council this moth, proposes the construction of 42 townhouses as part of the tourist and residential subdivision at 391 Diamond Beach Rd, Diamond Beach.
A total of 42 townhouses are earmarked for the Saltwater Shores resort.
“The proposal is the first stage of development for the site and, subject to sales, future
applications will be lodged for development of other parts of the site with other similar
development,” a Planner for Saltwater Shores said.
“The townhouses will be developed as tourist and visitor accommodation but will also
be suitable for permanent residential accommodation.
“The townhouses will be subdivided under a community title arrangement which will
also provide for the maintenance of services and facilities.”
The planner said the proposal also forecast the development of a “central communal recreation facility which will be available to the residents/tourists occupying the townhouses”.
The facilities will include a swimming pool, undercover BBQ and outdoor eating space, outdoor shower and park space.
NSW Business Chamber Mid North Coast regional manager Kellon Beard said the statewide organisation supported plans for tourist accommodation.
“Looking at the plans for the first time, we are all in favour of development, both tourism and housing during the current shortage,” Mr Beard said.
“Anything that contributes to our community, and meets the aspirations and plans for our future, we will support.”
