Outdoor lifestyle and leisure store Road Tech Marine (RTM) is expanding its NSW operations with plans to move their caravan, boating and four-wheel drive business to the Mid-North Coast.
The retail outlet which caters to off and on-road lifestyles as well as eager boating enthusiasts, has lodged a development application (DA) for a shared tenancy site at the Port Home Zone commercial centre on Hastings River Dr.
The application states that the new store would be shared in an existing commercial space with current retailer, Petbarn.
“This application seeks development consent for use of an existing tenancy for the sale of marine and outdoor equipment by Road Tech Marine, alterations to the eastern elevation including new exit door and automatic roller door and internal fit out,” the application states.
“The proposed use of the tenancy will support the sale of marine and outdoor based goods trading under the Road Tech Marine brand.
“Sale of goods will generally include, caravan, RV, 4WD and marine accessories; fridges, solar panels, Eskys and coolers; boating and trailer parts; batteries and inverters; barbecues, camping equipment and awnings and shelters.”
The proposed operating hours are 8.30am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.30pm Saturday and 10am to 4pm Sundays.
RTM describes itself as a supplier of parts and accessories for the growing market of outdoor adventurists.
“Our road tech products will appeal to anyone who travels the country in specially configured, self propelled or towed equipment which enables a degree of comfort to be enjoyed over straight camping,” its website states.
“Whether you are looking to trick out your 4WD and camper trailer or you belong to the growing army of those affectionately known as the “Grey Nomads”, we‘d like to help you take more of your comforts from home on the road.”
The retailer also stocks remote TV reception systems, solar panels and controllers, electronic rear and side vision monitoring and marine equipment, such as boat safety, navigation and communication gear.
There’s also stainless steel deck hardware, boat trailer accessories, anchors, ropes, fenders, lighting, lubricants, and outboard spares.
The application states that the proposal is consistent with the employment aims and objectives for expected population growth in the region.
The Mid-North Coast growth strategy aims to facilitate 48,500 new jobs by 2030, and Port Macquarie is one of the four major regional centres where this is scheduled to occur.
“The proposed fit-out and alterations will facilitate additional retailing opportunities for the local community,” the DA states.
“In addition, the store will provide both economic and social benefits to the local community through employment and enhanced competition.
Local employment will be generated through construction phases of the development in addition to staffing needs once operational. The proposed development is unlikely to have any detrimental economic impacts on surrounding development.”
If approved, it will be the tenth RTM store in NSW.
