Police have charged a Port Macquarie man with a raft of child sex offences for allegedly paying for abuse material online amid a strike force investigation into sickening live streaming.
The Child Protection Investigation Team (CPIT) attached to State Crime Command’s Sex Crimes Squad launched the Strike Force Beths probe in November 2022.
Detectives went to a Port Macquarie address and arrested a 61-year-old man just after 7am on Tuesday, “following extensive inquiries”.
“Police will allege the man made a number of payments to access child abuse material online,” a NSW Police statement read.
The man was taken to Port Macquarie Police Station and hit with seven counts of using a carriage service to access child abuse material.
He was refused bail to face Port Macquarie Local Court on Wednesday.
Investigations are ongoing.
