A Mid-North Coast chiropractor has been allowed to walk free after sexual assault allegations against him were dropped by police.
The NSW Department of Public Prosecutions withdrew a charge of sexual intercourse without consent at Port Macquarie Local Court on Thursday, six months after the man, 56, first came to the attention of police.
They had alleged the man, who had temporarily been suspended from treating female patients, sexually assaulted a 31-year-old woman at a Mid-North Coast chiropractic clinic on July 14, 2020.
He was arrested and charged on August 19, and was granted conditional bail before appearing in court on several more occasions.
He had denied the allegation, and pleaded not guilty to having sexual intercourse without consent back in September.
A non-publication order was made in relation to the man’s identity, and he has not been named for legal reasons.
He had no prior criminal history.
