King Creek: A 74-year-old man will face court over fatal road incident

The driver of a Holden Statesman which collided with a motorcyclist who died at King Creek in June has been charged over his death. He will face court in October.

A man will face court after being charged over a fatal motorcycle crash at King Creek near Wauchope.

Emergency services were rushed to King Creek Rd at King Creek, near Wauchope, about 2.30pm on Saturday June 6 following reports a motorcycle and Holden Statesman sedan collided.

The 51-year-old motorcycle rider was treated at the scene by paramedics but could not be saved.

The driver of the Holden, a 74-year-old man, was taken to Port Macquarie Hospital with minor injuries and underwent mandatory testing.

Police established a crime scene and officers from the Crash Investigation Unit began investigating the cause of the crash.

Following their investigations, the Holden driver attended Port Macquarie Police Station on Monday August 30, where he was arrested and charged with dangerous driving occasioning death-drive under influence; negligent driving occasioning death; drive with low-range PCA and not give way to vehicle.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Port Macquarie Local Court on Wednesday October 27.
