An investigation into the death of a 51-year-old motorcyclist at King Creek could stake “weeks” to determine an outcome, police say.
Emergency services were rushed to King Creek Rd at King Creek, near Wauchope, about 2.30pm on Sunday following reports a motorcycle and Holden Statesman sedan collided.
The 51-year-old motorcycle rider was treated at the scene by paramedics but could not be saved.
The driver of the Holden, a 74-year-old man, was taken to Port Macquarie Hospital with minor injuries and underwent mandatory testing.
Police established a crime scene and officers from the Crash Investigation Unit are now investigating the cause of the crash.
Mid-North Coast Police District Inspector Darren Jameson spoke to the Mid-North Coast News on Monday.
He said the investigation was still in its infancy and there was no indication as yet to what caused the collision.
“Nothing has been indicated in any of the information that we have got at the moment,” he said.
“It’s being investigated by crash investigation unit from Traffic and Highway Patrol Command and its in its early stages.
“Inquiries are still being conducted and these things normally don’t come quickly.
“There’s a fair bit involved including mechanical investigation analysis plus the blood and urine takes weeks and weeks and weeks.”
