A late night Maccas run at Forster has landed a young beauty student in court.

After work drinks at the Lakeside Tavern, Hannah Louise Mouthaan drove the short distance to get McDonald’s around 11.30pm on July 29.

The 20-year-old appeared in Forster Local Court on Wednesday when she pleaded guilty to mid range drink driving - first offence.

Mouthaan had booked accommodation in town for the night and didn’t intend to drive back to her home in Nabiac, but made the decision to get behind the wheel for a late night snack.

When she was pulled over for a random breath test she blew 0.112 which was “well into the mid range”, Magistrate Sharon Crews told the court.

Mouthaan told police she had about four glasses of chardonnay and had eaten some Lebanese food that night.

According to police facts, she was remorseful over the decision to drive.

Mouthaan works at the local Priceline and is studying beauty therapy at TAFE, the court heard.

She also helps care for her brothers - one who has suffered two broken legs in the past 12 months.

Ms Crews noted Mouthaan held a P-plate licence for almost three years and “has never put a foot wrong”.

The magistrate told the court she felt “some sympathy” for the young woman’s situation at home caring for her brother, but added: “It’s important that a message be sent to you and the community” that alcohol combined with inexperience is a dangerous combination on the road.

“I hope you learn from this,” Ms Crews said.

Mouthaan was convicted of mid range drink driving, fined $300 and disqualified from driving for the minimum period of three months.
