Finnian’s Tavern at Port Macquarie facing underage drinking, gaming charges

A Mid-North Coast tavern is preparing to fight a series of allegations involving pokie machines and service to a minor. Here’s what we know.

A tavern in the heart of Port Macquarie has been accused of several liquor and gaming-related offences.

Two charges relate to the alleged supply of alcohol to the same minor by two different staff members.

Those behind Finnian’s Irish Tavern on Gordon St has pleaded not guilty to all allegations.

The matter came before Port Macquarie Local Court on September 20.

The hotel is accused of failing to ensure gaming machines are located in a gaming room, hotelier liable for operation of gaming machine by minor and two counts of person related to licensed premises supply liquor to minor.

It’s alleged the offences all occurred on the night of October 1, 2022.

McGirr and Associates, acting on the tavern’s behalf, asked for a further adjournment.

The case was adjourned for a hearing on November 27, which is estimated to take four hours.
