Cooperabung: Man dies after large tree falls on a vehicle at a Mid-North Coast rest area
A Central Coast man has died this afternoon in a tragic roadside accident at a Mid-North Coast rest stop.

A man is dead and two others have been transported to hospital after a large tree fell and crushed a car at a Pacific Highway rest stop on the Mid-North Coast this afternoon.
Emergency service were called to the single-vehicle accident at Barry’s Creek Area, Cooperabung, near Kempsey, about 4.40pm on Tuesday.
Kempsey Police Inspector Clint Smallwood said it appears a large tree has fallen at the southbound entry to the rest area, over a guard rail, and onto the rear of the vehicle.
He confirmed a 48-year-old Central Coast man, who was sitting in the back seat at the time, had died.
Two other occupants, a driver and a front seat passenger, were transported to hospital.
The extent of their injuries are not yet known.
Inspector Smallwood said the Police Crash Investigation Unit will now examine the full extent of the incident and the circumstances that led to it.
A report will also be prepared for the coroner.
