A council grave digger with a history of intimidation will spend another five weeks remanded in custody after being picked up by police on the weekend for allegedly stalking and intimidating his ex-partner.

Connor Mark Stocks from Tuncurry is employed by MidCoast Council as a grave digger, his lawyer told the court.

The 29-year-old is charged with stalk or intimidate (domestic violence related) and contravening a prohibition in an apprehended domestic violence order.

Stocks is pleading not guilty to these charges.

The police prosecutor told the court that the “sharpening of a machete” would have scared the alleged victim and that Stocks’ “history of intimidation” doesn’t assist him.

Stocks’ lawyer agreed that his client’s history did not assist him, but said the accused could report to Forster police station daily if granted bail.

Magistrate Allison Hawkins told the court that “not so long ago you have made threats involving weapons” and that “your record indicates you have been convicted of this in the past”.

Stocks shook his head and brought his shackled hands to his face, wiping away tears when he realised he would spend the next five-and-a-half weeks remanded in custody.

Ms Hawkins denied bail and adjourned the matter to June 16 to be heard at Forster.
