A Mid-North Coast man has been jailed after pleading guilty to a long list of child sex abuse crimes following a joint Australian Federal Police and United States Homeland Security probe.
A senior federal cop issued a warning to others involved in similar “abhorrent” offending following the arrest of 28-year-old Kempsey man Christopher Seam
Seam obtained and stored a large amount of abuse material from 14 child victims.
Australian Federal Police (AFP) joined forces with US Homeland Security investigators to uncover the offending and Seam was arrested at his South Kempsey home in May 2023.
Officers uncovered child abuse material on online cloud storage accounts and chat logs with child victims saved on Seam’s phone.
Seam pleaded guilty to 10 counts each of procuring child abuse material and causing child abuse material to be transmitted to himself. He also pleaded guilty to two counts of transmitting indecent communication to a person under 16 and one count of possessing child abuse material.
In the Downing Centre District Court on September 24, Seam was sentenced to nine years jail-time with a three-year non-parole period.
AFP Detective Acting Inspector Emmanuel Tsardoulias said officers worked closely with international partners to identify anyone involved in abuse and exploitation of children.
“This arrest should serve as a warning that the AFP, together with our international law enforcement partners, are dedicated to fighting child sexual abuse and bringing those who commit these abhorrent offences before the court.”
