Bradley Knudson, 39, arrested at Port Macquarie after being wanted over Queensland shooting

A man wanted in Queensland over an alleged shooting led police on a high speed car chase before being tasered and arrested in Port Macquarie.

Police said officers from the Mid North Coast Police District detected a hatchback travelling south bound on the Pacific Highway at Cooperabung, at 167kmh just before midnight on Friday.

When the driver allegedly failed to stop, police initiated a pursuit where they claim the vehicle reached a speed of 230kmh before it slowed down near Haydons Wharf Road.

The police chase was called off for safety reasons.

Following inquiries, officers from the Tactical Operation Unit attended a unit on Clarence Street, Port Macquarie, where a taser was used in the arrest of a 39-year-old man.

Police allege the driver of a vehicle in a high speed police chase is wanted in Queensland over an alleged shooting.

Bradley Knudson was taken to Port Macquarie police station and charged with apprehension on warrant issued in another state.

He appeared in Port Macquarie Local Court on Monday December 16, where he did not apply for bail and it was formally refused.

Knudson remains in custody and must appear again on Tuesday December 17.

NSW Police said in a statement that it was understood Queensland police wound apply for his extradition.
