A Taree teenager is charged with street racing through the centre of town late at night.
Blake Cross appeared in Taree Local Court on Wednesday, March 1, charged with taking part in a race between two vehicles; driving recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous; and speeding more than 45km per hour over the speed limit.
He has pleaded not guilty to the street racing offence but guilty to reckless driving.
The 19-year-old has not entered a plea for the speeding charge.
According to documents submitted to court Cross is alleged to have taken part in a street race between 11.20 and 11.25pm on December 11 last year along Victoria Street, Taree.
The section of road where the incident was alleged to have occurred has a 60km per hour speed limit.
The matter was adjourned to April 12.
